Anything But Clothes - Don't Mock Me

I had a mock exam yesterday. It was 'nicht so gut danke'. Even though I spent over a week working solidly in the library (from 10am-4am... ok, maybe a little bit of procrastination in between. But just a bit) revising, I still knew nothing! It was the longest exam I've ever been in; almost 4 hours and I still missed out a question!
But hay ho, my name ain't Joe.

Anyway, after the mock I went into town to meet Sonia (a fellow lawyer at Catz, Northern bird from Manchester, good friend of mine), Sarah Jackson (PPS, Catz, Buckinghamshire - a good friend also), and a few others to get some provisions for later that night.

We needed provisions for our 'swap'(See Semper-Hughes Dictionary extract) with Fitzwilliam 'Fitz' College 1st year boys, which had a theme of 'Anything But Clothes'. So we all popped down to Sain's (abbr; Sainsbury's)to get some materials for our outfits; tin foil, bin liners, table cloths, tape, pillow cases, etc - the usual stuff. I planned on wearing a tin foil dress, that I would make by wrapping tin foil round a tight black dress so I wasn't nakey underneath lol. However, (lesson 1) it turns out, tin foil don't like being made into a dress, and cuts your legs when you sit on it. So, Lexi (Geography, Catz, works with me at Hollister, good friend) saved the day by making me a dress out of 'FRAGILE' tape - looked so cool! There were only three small issues... UNO: I couldn't breath in it. DEUNO: I couldn't pee in it. TRINO: I couldn't move in it. But that didn't matter because (lesson 2) it turns out, none of those things are vital to sustaining human life anyway.

So we went on the swap at this Chinese karaoke restaurant about 10/15 minutes away from Catz. The woman who runs the place was the scariest, smallest, woman I've ever come across! Ended up having a wicked night though, the SophistiCatz (my college's 1st year girls drinking society) and I outclassed the boys, by outfit standards and by the level of "banter". To be fair, I think we drank them under the table too; one of the boys went from standing, to completely horizontal, on more than one occasion! Got on that karaoke double lively, belted out a few big numbers ;) Then we headed to Cindies (really cheesy, but hilarious, club in Cambridge).

9am lectures this morning though - Not happy.

Swaps between college drinking societies usually involve a female drinking society 'swapping' with a male drinking society. At a swap people are usually seated 'boy, girl, boy, girl' so the banterous conversation can flow. After the meal, both drinking societies usually head out to a classy club to boggy on down. A Change of Direction

So I haven't posted on here for ages. And what better time to start then now - I've only got a looming mock exam to be revising for after all.

'Twas pondering a few days ago: The last time I posted on here I was at a very different phase of my life. I'd just finished my A level exams and was ready and raring to enjoy the summer. Which is exactly what I did, which explains why my last post was 7 months ago! Since then a lot has changed...

I had THE best summer of my life. - Quality

I worked a full time job. - You can't fully comprehend what 'hate' is until you've worked in retail

Made new friends & spent time with family. - Priceless

Found out I'm Dyslexic. - Comforting & Reaffirming

Got into university. - My best achievement to date

Got addicted to Tumblr - I need help

Left home - Difficult, but exciting

Grew, & grew up - [work in progress]

Came to university - And that's where I'm at now.

So now I find myself at the beginning of my second term. University is FUCKING BRILLIANT! I know the next three years will be the best of my life. Despite this, I still miss my Mum (I did say the growing up was a 'work in progress') and friends back at home though.

This brings me nicely onto the point of this post. Titled 'A Change of Direction', this post is representative of the new direction my blog is taking; I envisage it to be a virtual diary for me to share with my loved ones. An online space to deposit the events of my day, thoughts, feelings, and updates to keep my friends and family informed - From me, to you.

Additionally,this post is also symbolic of the change of direction my life has taken in that last seven months. - As well as a way to keep me sane from all of the work I have!

So I had my year 13/6th form Prom the other week. It was so lovely, I had a great time. Everyone was dressed up to the 9s and it was a great chance to say goodbye to everyone before we left for the summer. It was so funny, one girl at my college got really drunk and had to be looked after by some of the teachers, bless er.

So abut my outfit; I knew I wanted to wear something 1940's - 1950's inspired, the Hollywood Glamour look. I adore that era and love everything about it, the clothes, films, hairstyles, history, everything. I've just posted a few pictures of some things I got inspiration from. Really tried with my hair, to master the do as I think the hair is so important for this look as it is key to pulling the look together and giving it the authenticity of the era.

Bonjourno beaches! My name's India Semper-Hughes, my friends and family call me Ind, or Indi. I'm 18 years old, and I live in one of the best cities in the world; London. North, to be specific, or "Norf" as I'd pronounce it ;)
As the title suggests for all you Sherlocks out there, this is my first ever post. I shan't lie, I aint got a scooby as to how this thing works, but I'm sure if I rub all of my brain cells together I'll manage! I've just finished doing my A2s at college and so I've regained my life, woo! Feel like a phoenix rising from the ashes or summing ha. So I thought I'd seize the chance to get involved while i work through the summer.
I'm not 101% sure how/what this will turn out to be, but I'm just going to share images, thoughts, and most of all fashion!
